Cardiovascular Disease (CAD) is the most leading disease that causes mortality. Cardiovascular disease also called ischemic heart disease, Cardiovascular disease occurs when the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart become narrowed. If you are not taking proper treatment for cardiovascular disease it leads to chest pain, heart failure, and arrhythmias. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in all parts of India including the poor state and rural part of India. Cardiovascular disease is one of the top 10 killer diseases in India. To avoid these we need to do the proper exercise, meditation to live a long life.

Causes and Types:

Cardiovascular disease can refer to different heart or blood vessel problems, the term is often used to mean damage to your heart or blood vessels by atherosclerosis, a buildup of fatty plaques in your arteries. Plaque buildup thickens and stiffens artery walls, which can inhibit blood flow through your arteries to your organs and tissues. Atherosclerosis is the most common cause of cardiovascular disease. It can be caused by correctable problems, such as an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, and smoking.

  • angina, a type of chest pain that occurs due to decreased blood flow into the heart
  • arrhythmia, or an irregular heartbeat or heart rhythm
  • congenital heart disease, in which a problem with heart function or structure is present from birth
  • coronary artery disease, which affects the arteries that feed the heart muscle
  • heart attack, or a sudden blockage to the heart’s blood flow and oxygen supply
  • heart failure, wherein the heart cannot contract or relax normally

Symptoms:

The symptoms of Cardiovascular disease may vary for men and women. Men may have chest pain and women may have other symptoms along with chest discomforts, such as shortness of breath, nausea, and extreme fatigue.

  • Chest pain, chest tightness, chest pressure, and chest discomfort (angina)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pain, numbness, weakness, or coldness in your legs or arms if the blood vessels in those parts of your body are narrowed
  • Pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen, or back

Treatment:

  • Medication, to reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, improve blood flow, or regulate heart rhythm
  • Surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting or valve repair or replacement surgery
  • Cardiac rehabilitation, including exercise prescriptions and lifestyle counseling
